One take on the Microsoft Surface

Yesterday, Microsoft previewed its new tablet, call the Surface. It won’t ship until the fall, but one thing is clear: Microsoft is trying to adopt a standard practice of Apple. Apple designs both hardware and software together to deliver the best user experience possible. Microsoft, historically, has designed primarily software and has never built a computer itself. Now Microsoft seems to feel it is compelled to do so. It remains to be seen how well they can meld both hardware and software into a single product.

Also, it remains to be seen how Microsoft’s hardware partners will react, especially if the Surface has any decent success.

  1. I can’t believe that Microsoft beat apple to punch on the foldable keyboard, kickstand and stylus features. It’s like apple is just resting on its laurels now.
